Microlandscapes are focussed by the research team Dr. Brigitte Franzen and Dr. Stefanie Krebs. Aiming for a transdisciplinary landscape theory their approach links different perspectives on landscape, from art and cultural sciences as well as from landscape architecture.

In the project current modes of mobility with certain microlandscapes concerning spatial perception, analysis and design are correlated. Changing ideas about landscape and mobility are critically reviewed. Essential part of the research are field studies to constitute an encyclopaedia of connected microlandscapes. The development of an European “landscape culture on the move” is challenged by the transdiciplinary cultural landscape studies which were established in the United States from the 1950s on.
